Our Programs

Mt Diablo Soccer Association offers a range of programs to cater for all players, at all levels of ability and experience.

For any questions regarding the programs on offer, contact us.

FALL PROGRAM

Fall is MDSA's primary recreational program, running from August to November. It is open to all players from 5U to 19U. All that's required is a desire to have fun and be part of a team! 10U & up divisions progress to the Mt. Diablo World Cup at the end of the house season to introduce players to competitive play.

SPRING PROGRAM

In addition to the primary Fall Program, MDSA also offers a secondary season in Spring. Games run from March to May. Open to all players from 5U to 19U, with co-ed play for older divisions (typically 12U and up), the Spring Program offers a shorter, less formal opportunity for player development in a fun environment.

SELECT PROGRAM

MDSA's Select program follows our Fall primary program for the 10U-14U divisions. It is an opportunity for Fall players to improve their skills in a more competitive but still recreational environment. Players are chosen via tryouts and evaluations during the Fall season, teams formed and announced in November, with training sessions typically start the first week of December. Teams typically compete in interplay games and tournaments in the NorCal area from January through May.

ELITE PROGRAM

The Elite program offers an environment within MDSA and within AYSO for those players looking to play at a highly competitive level. The main focus of the Elite teams is player development. Players on Elite teams are committed to a high training regimen and to playing against strong competition. Elite teams play other AYSO Elite teams and U.S. Club teams. Travel to the surrounding regions (Pleasant Hill, Concord, Davis, American Canyon, etc; as well as to the Peninsula and occasionally further afield) is involved.

AYSO Philosophies

Balanced Teams

Each year we form new teams as evenly balanced as possible because it's more fun and a better learning experience when teams of similar ability play. It allows for each player to gain the experience of a wide variety of teammates of different skill levels.

Open Registration

Our primary programs are open to all children who want to register and play soccer. Interest and enthusiasm are the only criteria for playing. There are no elimination try-outs and nobody gets cut.

Positive Coaching

Encouragement of player effort provides for greater enjoyment for the players and leads to better-skilled and better-motivated players. A coach can be one of the most influential people in a child's life, so AYSO requires they create a positive experience for every boy and girl.

Good Sportsmanship

We strive to create a positive environment based on mutual respect rather than a win-at-all-costs attitude, and our program is designed to instill good sportsmanship in every facet of AYSO.

Player Development

We believe that all players should be able to develop their soccer skills and knowledge to the best of their abilities, both individually and as members of a team, in order to maximize their enjoyment of the game.
