Overview & Purpose

The purpose of this program is to establish a competitive program within Mt. Diablo Soccer (MDSA), thus increasing the retention of MDSA players by offering a competitive environment for those players desiring to play at a higher level.

Mt. Diablo Soccer Elite program is a member of US Club Soccer. This will allow Elite teams the opportunity to compete in a broader range of tournaments this fall.

While this is a new competitive program each and every coach, referee and administrators will be responsible for adhering to the six basic principles of the AYSO philosophy. The six AYSO principles are Everyone Plays, Balanced Teams, Positive Coaching, Open Registration, Good Sportsmanship and Player Development. MDSA Elite teams will be established with the goal of continued player development in a competitive atmosphere.

Coaches, Referees, and Administrators Requirements

All coaches, referees and administrators will be in compliance with the AYSO Safe Haven program and are certified at a higher level than our fall or spring programs. These guidelines ensure a safe competitive soccer program for all participants.

Length of Season

The length of the season will be from July 1st thru November. Divisions with high school age players will end prior to the start of the North Coast Section Winter season and the younger age groups may continue until the end of November.

Program Costs

The MDSA Elite 2010 registration fee is $100 per player. In addition, any player wishing to participate in MDSA's Elite Program must also pay and play in MDSA's 2010 Fall season.  Every MDSA Elite player is expected to fully participate concurrently on a 2010 Fall team.  Other additional costs may be tournament registration fees to be self funded by each team. MDSA Players who played in the 2009-2010 Select Program who are chosen for an Elite team may be eligible for a $50 credit.

Team Formation and Recruitment

Mt. Diablo Soccer Elite program will sponsor tryouts (see below for dates) for each age group to allow our selection committee to evaluate players and make suggestions in making up our competitive teams. Established AYSO coaches interested in competing at a higher level with their team are encouraged to apply. See top of this page for the links to the applications.

Elite Pre-Tryout Clinics - (it is not a requirement to attend a clinic, these are just to help players prepare for tryouts)

Player Development & Competition

The goal of this competitive program is to allow the players to enjoy the game at a higher level that they would otherwise find within the MDSA organization.  The intent is to provide the player with a higher, more qualified training regimen than they are used to, as well as playing against stronger competition. Each team travels within their area for the season with more extensive traveling required as tournaments become available.

Please keep in mind that it is the requirement of the Mt. Diablo Soccer Elite teams that each player will have at least 50% playing time in accordance with AYSO philosophy.

Summary

The Mt. Diablo Soccer Elite program increases the level of competition for those players who have a desire to compete at the higher level.

Mt. Diablo Soccer Elite is not a profit driven endeavor, and is solely interested in the development of the player, while respecting the philosophy under which AYSO was founded and currently operates.

We look forward to your input and participation in Mt. Diablo Soccer Elite.
