The MDSA Elite Program is fully aligned with each of the AYSO philosophies and the coach is expected to support them while working with the players, parents, referees, and other teams.
Coaching an Elite Team is a serious commitment. In making the final coach choice the MDSA Elite Committee not only takes into account the information you provided on this application but will also consider your coaching "style and methods" during the Fall, Spring and/or Select programs as well as your general demeanor and how you manage the touch-lines, interact with the kids, parents and referees.
In the end the Elite Program is a development program for MDSA players who want to play the game at a higher competitive level. We are looking for experienced coaches that not only know how to coach technically but know how to bring out the best in their players, parents, and themselves and make the Select Program a great experience for all.
Elite teams are expected to form soon after the tryouts in your age group are concluded. Additional tryouts may be held in May in certain age groups, if needed, so you can evaluate Select players. We anticipate that the Elite year will conclude approximately in January 2017. Those teams impacted by high school soccer (U15 and above) will conclude their season in November, prior to the start of the high school season.
Elite teams are expected to participate in a minimum of 6 AYSO or US Club tournaments per season. If you are chosen to coach an Elite team you will be expected to participate in at least this number of tournaments.
