Mt.Diablo Soccer COVID-19 Return To Play Guidelines

Please review the slides below carefully.  In order to return to play as safely as possible Mt. Diablo Soccer have outlined the responsibilities for:

  • The Region
  • The Coach
  • The Player
  • The Parent or Guardian
Region Responsibilities
  • Assigned Safety Commission comprised of Regional Commissioner, Safety Director,
    Coach Administrator and Fields Coordinator.
  • Create & distribute protocols and guidelines to region staff, volunteers and families.  Require signed COVID-19 waiver, acknowledgement of receipt of protocols and guidelines from all participating families prior to resumption of training.
  • Identify strategies for working with public health officials to notify adult leaders, youth and their families if the region becomes aware of a participant developing COVID-19 who came in contact with others during permitted activities.
  • Maintain participant confidentiality regarding health status.
  • Sanction practices only when official parks and fields become available by local authority.
  • Have an action plan in place, in case of notification of a positive test result.
  • Train and educate staff on guidelines, including State and Local regulations, AYSO guidelines, CDC recommendations, and any other necessary information.
  • Implement plan to suspend operations upon revised information and inform field property owners..
  • Provide sufficient field space to enable social distancing; provide sufficient hand-washing/sanitizing supplies, equipment sanitizing supplies, and equipment to be used for indicate social distancing spaces.
  • Support coaches with suitable training techniques with spacial awareness.
  • Post physical guides at fields.
  • Limit nonessential visitors during activities (e.g. spectators, additional volunteers beyond AYSO Safe Haven requirements
  • Avoid off-field activities and events until further notice.
  • Establish communication pathway for Region staff, volunteers and parents to communicate concerns/questions.
Coach Responsibilities
  • Make the Health & Safety of all participants a priority. Inquire how participants are feeling; send any
    participant home should you believe they act or look ill.
  • Follow all Region, local, state and federal health protocols.
  • Obtain written (email) confirmation from each family to acknowledge receipt and understanding of the guidelines.
  • Report confirmed cases of COVID-19 within a participant’s household to the Region Safety Commission IMMEDIATELY.
  • Wear a face mask/covering during training sessions.
  • Ensure all participants bring and use their own labelled equipment (e.g. ball, water bottle, jersey/pinnie, hand sanitizer, backpack.) Personal belongings not in use must be placed at 6ft intervals around the training space.
  • Only one coach handles cones, disks, flags, etc. No volunteer/player/parent assists. Equipment must be sanitized after each training session (sanitizer provided at the fields).
  • Drop Off/Pickup Protocol:
    • Coach should meet players at the entrance to the field with verbal greeting only – no physical greetings,  and acknowledge parent(s) who remains in their vehicle. Parents should not enter the field space where possible. Coach should escort players to the parking lot/field entrance at the end of the session.
  • Ensure all participants use hand sanitizer on arrival, during breaks and at the end of sessions. Participants should bring and use their own; additional supplies will be available at the fields.
  • Ensure social distancing per guidelines – currently 6ft between all participants (same household exempted).
  • Be sensitive, supportive and accommodating to any families who may be uncomfortable with returning to play at any time.
  • Utilize techniques/activities as provided by the Region and AYSO to limit contact and maintain distancing during sessions. Activities must comply with the current Phase of return as communicated to coaches by the Region.
  • Work with team families to establish fixed, stable groups of up to 10 players (plus one registered coach and one registered AYSO adult volunteer). Submit these rosters to Safety Commission before training sessions begin. Participants may not transfer between groups until restrictions are relaxed. Per AYSO Safe Haven requirements, there must be two registered adult volunteers including a coach allocated and present with each group.
Player Responsibilities
  • Only Return to Play if you and your family are comfortable and you fully understand the
    requirements to ensure the safety of all participants.
  • If you’re sick, DO NOT come to training. If you begin to feel ill during a session, tell your Coach immediately.
  • Observe 6ft Social Distancing from all participants in a session at all times, unless they live in the same household as you. 
  • Personal belongings and equipment should be placed at 6ft intervals around the training space as indicated by your coach.
  • Bring your own equipment labelled with your name to each practice (e.g. ball, water bottle, pinnie/training jersey, hand sanitizer, ball, gloves, etc.). Your coach cannot provide you with extras if you forget (additional hand sanitizer is also available at the field). Do not touch or share anyone else’s equipment, including cones, flags, discs, etc.
  • Meet your coach at the field entrance. Parents should not accompany you onto the training field.
  • Wash hands/use hand sanitizer upon arrival, during breaks and at the end of every training session.
  • Bring and use your own hand sanitizer at every training.
  • Players should  wear a mask before and immediately following all training sessions. Masks should not be worn during training.
  • Wash/sanitize all equipment before and after every training session, including cleats, shinguards, ball, clothing, gloves.
  • No group celebrations, e.g. High 5s, fist bumps, etc.
Parent/Guardian Responsibilities
  • Only Return to Play if you and your family are comfortable and you fully understand the
    requirements to ensure the safety of all participants.
  • Follow all Return to Play protocols, including designating only one extracurricular activity in a stable group per household member.
  • Return signed COVID-19 Waiver & Acknowledgement Form confirming receipt of and agreement with Region Protocals & Guidelines to Team Coach before resuming training.
  • If your child is sick, DO NOT bring them to training. Stay home and contact your Coach and the Region Safety Commission immediately.
  • It is recommend that you take your child’s temperature before leaving home for each practice. If above 100.4, do not attend.
  • Have your child wash their hands before and after practice at home.
  • Limit the use of carpool, and limit passengers to household members.
  • Maintain proper social distance (6ft) from non-family members. Masks are encouraged, and required where necessary under local guidelines.
  • Wash/sanitize all equipment before and after every training session, including cleats, shinguards, ball, clothing, gloves.
  • Do not assist the coach with any equipment.
  • Ensure your child has their personal equipment labelled with their name for every practice (e.g. ball, water bottle, pinnie/training jersey, hand sanitizer, ball, gloves, etc.). Their coach cannot provide them with extras if they forget (additional hand sanitizer is also available at the field). 
  • Ensure your child brings and uses their own hand sanitizer at every training.
  • Drop-off and Pick-up Protocol: Stay in your vehicle. Your child’s coach should meet them at the field entrance and acknowledge their arrival with you. At the end of the session, players will be escorted to the field entrance to return to your vehicle.
  • Check Region and Coach communications regularly, and contact the Region with any questions or concerns.
